New$110.00The League "Doppler Effect" - Doppelbock Recipe Kit (All Grain)
This recipe has been designed to be consistent with the 2021 BJCP Style guide 9A - Doppelbock.
The Doppler Effect is a recipe created for The League of Brewers by Jamie McQuillan of Cell Division Brewery.
Doppelbocks originate from Munich, having been brewed by St. Francis of Paula as early as the 1700s. Referred to as liquid bread, Doppelbocks are strong, rich, malty German lagers with plenty to chew on. This is particularly true for darker versions such as this one, although lighter more recent interpretations that are hoppier with a drier finish, do exist. Pouring a deep copper colour with a lingering off-white head, The Doppler Effect is gently bittered with a low hop profile and should drink with the perception of sweetness and a clean fermentation profile. The use of a decoction mash will help to bring out caramelisation and milliard reactions, bringing increased depth of malt character which is complemented by soft, toasted notes.
